Lancome Skincare VoxBox
I absolutely love being a part of the Influenster community!! If you aren’t a part of Influenster, go and check them out and sign up! It’s so nice to be able to review products and also give my opinion about products that I have tried. Being sent a VoxBox full of products to test and review is always nice to receive in my mailbox as well. I had the opportunity to be a part of a 28 day skin care campaign for Lancome and was sent products completely free of charge in order to participate and give my honest opinion.
Here are the three Lancome products that were sent to me.
- Lancome Visionnaire Dual-Phase Crescendo Night Peel
- Lancome Bienfait UV SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen
- Lancome Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick
I’m going to talk about the lipstick and the sunscreen first since the night peel was the biggest product that I had to use for 28 days.
Matte Shaker Liquid Lipstick- Here is what the website says: Finally, a matte liquid lipstick that wears comfortably without drying out your lips! A water-in-oil emulsion that’s formulated with a patented Ultra Thin Film technology to deliver weightless texture and a second-skin feel without sacrificing intense color payoff. And it has Vitamin E for comfortable, non-drying wear.
Its unique cushion sponge allows for maximum absorption of the formula to deliver a precise, soft application onto the lips, and buildable color that dries without smudging or transfer.
Just shake to soak the applicator with formula, apply the cushion directly onto lips to build the saturated color… then wait for it to dry down to a lightweight, comfort matte finish.
Available in 7 vibrant hues- wear one on its own or mix and match for even more shade options!
As for my opinion, I was so impressed with the pigmentation of this lipstick! I swatched the color on the back of my hand and with just one swipe, I was in awe at the pigmentation pay off! The applicator is really weird. I’ve never seen a lipstick applicator like this so it really threw me off. I wasn’t sure what I thought about the applicator being so thick as I’m used to thinner applicators to really get a precise application. When I actually applied the Matte Shaker to my lips, I was surprised to find how easy it was to apply the product and I was still able to get a fairly precise application. It felt good on my lips and throughout the day, I was surprised to find that it really didn’t dry out my lips like most matte liquid lipsticks do. The only thing that I truly didn’t like about this lipstick was that it transferred. I’m so used to my favorite brand of lipstick that doesn’t transfer so wearing a lipstick that does transfer bummed me out. All in all, the lipstick itself was fairly long lasting. I did have to touch up a bit after I ate but it really wasn’t too bad.
Bienfait UV SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen- Here is what the website says:
This light-weight, oil-free broad spectrum sunscreen is fast-absorbing and a perfect choice to wear every day over your Lancôme moisturizer, under makeup or alone.
All skin types, even sensitive skin.
Oil-Free. Dermatologist-tested for safety.
Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.
I personally don’t use direct sunscreen on my face since my moisturizer contains SPF but for testing purposes, I used a moisturizer that didn’t have SPF in it so I could use Lancome’s SPF since the peel highly recommended using a sunscreen during use. Of course this Lancome sunscreen smelled like, well, sunscreen. I was afraid I was going to smell the sunscreen all day long but thankfully, once it was absorbed, I couldn’t smell it. It wouldn’t bother me too much if I could still smell it, but for those that are sensitive to fragrances, I could see it being a problem but again, once it was absorbed I couldn’t smell it. The one thing that I particularly liked about this facial SPF was that it didn’t leave my skin feeling greasy like most sunscreens do. You know, that left over grease film that doesn’t go away until you jump into the pool. So glad it didn’t leave that feeling on my face. All in all, it did the job. I don’t know that I would go about purchasing this on my own as I felt it’s pretty expensive for a facial sunscreen but if it was the only one that I found that didn’t leave that greasy film on my face, it definitely would be worth the money. Bonus, it didn’t break me out!! That in itself makes me happy!
Alright, now for the night peel. This was the one that I was nervous about as you never know how you’ll react to a new skin care product. I had gone onto Influenster to read the reviews and they were about half and half. Some reviews raved about the results they experienced and others talked about how awful it was for their skin; that it made these weird bumps, almost like a rash, show up on their face. Now, the product does state that it’s NOT for sensitive skin and not everyone reads all of the info on a product so definitely read the directions, the list of ingredients…just all of the details if you choose to try this product out for yourself.
Visionnaire Crescendo Night Peel- Here is what the website says: Peel to reveal smooth, even, and radiant skin! This easy to use, leave-on liquid nighttime face peel works to gently exfoliate skin surface cells and address multiple skin concerns: uneven skin texture, appearance of pores, wrinkles and fine lines, and dark spots. Inspired by fitness interval training, Visionnaire Crescendo™ combines two different formulas each with their own unique ingredient combination to be used over a 28-night period as part of an interval skin training experience. Start with Phase 1 for the first 14 nights, formulated with 5% bio-acids such as fruit acids and quinoa husk extract that works to reduce the appearance of pores, improve skin’s texture, and radiance. Then, switch to Phase 2 for the last 14 nights. Formulated with 10% derma-acids, including 0.5% salicylic acid and 9.5% pure glycolic acid, this phase reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. Repeat the 28-night skin interval training experience as desired.
After 1 night of using Phase 1: Skin feels smoother and is more radiant
After 3 nights of using Phase 1: Skin tone appears more even and fine lines are visibly reduced
After 14 nights of Phase 1: Pores appear reduced
After 28 nights of Phase 2: Wrinkles and dark spots are visibly reduced
Visionnaire Crescendo™ leaves skin feeling smooth and appearing more even, which is ideal for seamless makeup application.
It’s important to use an SPF of at least 15 during the day when using a peel like Crescendo™. Lancôme recommends Bienfait UV SPF 50+.
Alright, so I’m weird, and the very first thing I do is smell new products. If it smells strange, I won’t use it. I know, I know, I’m weird! Phase 1 smells so amazing! It smells fresh and luxurious and like it truly will do good for your skin. It’s very light weight and absorbed quickly into my skin. It did leave kind of a tacky feeling on my face but that went away after about 30 minutes or so. I didn’t notice anything different the following morning after my first use as some of the reviews noticed a slight difference in their skin after the first night. About day 4 is when I noticed that my dreaded acne scars were lighter and a bit diminished. This excited me! I didn’t have any bad reactions to Phase 1 whatsoever and I actually enjoyed using it because of the smell and noticing a change in my acne scars made me want to continue to use it each night. By night 14, my acne scars were almost completely gone!! I’ve had horrible acne scaring on the left side of my face from my temple down to my cheek and I have always been self conscious about it. I’ve used products in the past that helped with the appearance of them but as soon as I stopped using the products, they’d come back. I’ve been done with the full 28 days for almost 2 weeks now and my acne scars are still gone!
Phase 2, now I read that Phase 2 was definitely the more harsh phase out of the two. It didn’t smell AS good as Phase 1 but it still had a pleasant scent to it. This phase did sting a bit which tells me that it definitely is getting into your pores and doing something. Once the stinging subsided, it was more of a tingle that was left but it stopped once it was fully absorbed into my skin. Following night 1, I woke up to some oh so fun pimples. Bla! I wasn’t very happy about this. I don’t know if it was because of Phase 2 but I didn’t notice any visible pimples forming when I did my skin care regimen. The next couple of nights, my acne got worse and I definitely wasn’t happy about this especially since this was a peel that was supposed to help with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots and says nothing about acne. It does have Salicylic Acid in it which definitely could have been why acne appeared as it was cleaning out my pores and bringing everything to the surface but still, I wasn’t happy. I decided to just tough it out and finish the full 14 nights. By the end of the 14 nights, I did still have some acne but the appearance of my acne scarring was practically gone! All of it! I was worried about new acne scarring since I had new pimples but it’s been fine.
Overall, I was impressed at how well this night peel worked on my acne scars! I would use this peel just for acne scars especially if they don’t come back. I definitely would not use this peel if you have sensitive skin as Phase 2 definitely is more aggressive and you can feel it when applying it. I’d be afraid to use it if I had sensitive skin. Personally, I don’t know if I would pay the price for this peel but if my acne scars continue to stay away, I probably would purchase it with my own money to use for another round to get rid of the scarring completely. I may even purchase it as I get older and get more….*gulp*…wrinkles!
