Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil

Hi beauties!!

Why is it that good brow products are so hard to find?  And it’s like once you find that one product that you just fall in love with, you can’t try anything different and don’t even toy with the idea of switching.  This is how it is for me anyway.  My holy grail brow products is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and although this is a freaking amazing brow product, it’s $18 usd and lasts for such a long time since a little goes such a long way.  When I picked up the Revlon brow pencil, my goal was to find a drugstore brow product to try and review and share with all of you a brow product that is easy to get a hold of and had a decent price tag along with it.

Alright, so the first thing that attracted me to this brow pencil is the angled tip for a more precise application.  I also loved that it said “wears up to 24 hours”.  As a mom, once I have my makeup on, I need it to be long lasting and stay on my face rather than melt off, smear, or wear off completely.  I’m sure there are other moms out there that can relate.  I also loved that it claimed to be waterproof which, again, is important to me when choosing certain products.  I picked up my pencil at Target and paid $7.99 usd which isn’t too bad whatsoever plus, you can usually find Revlon coupons for a dollar or 2 off any Revlon product.  The shade I went with was 220 Dark Brown.

Let’s talk about the initial application of the brow pencil.  I loved the angled tip but found that it didn’t stay in the shape of the angle once you used the product but that’s okay, it wasn’t that big of a deal to me.  Pigmentation of the pencil…ummm…let’s just say it’s spot on and then some!  I couldn’t believe how pigmented the product was!  I like to use my Sigma E65 small angled brush to do my brows since I can be really precise with this brush.  For me, I applied some of the pencil onto my brows and then went in with my brush to move the product and shape my brows as I always do.  I personally like doing this with any brow pencil because I just don’t feel like a pencil can thoroughly give me the shape that I like.

Now because this product claims 24 hour wear, I did find that it was a little difficult to work with since the product was so…I guess you would say stiff.  Usually with long lasting products, once it’s on, it’s on, and it’s a little more difficult to smudge and move around.  If I worked quickly, I could move the product around with a little more ease before it officially set.  Using a spooly with this brow pencil is a must in my opinion since it is so pigmented.  I used it to brush through my brows so the product didn’t look so heavy or completely fake since I like for my brows to look a little more natural with some shape to them as you can see in the photo below.

As for this product being long lasting and waterproof, I definitely would say that it’s long lasting since my brows looked just as good at the end of the day as they did when I first applied it.  Waterproof?  Eh…yes and no.  Yes being that once my brows were wet, the product didn’t run off of my brows but if I touched my brows when they were wet, the product transferred to my hand right away.  But rest assured, the products isn’t going to go running off if you were to go swimming or sweat while working out; just don’t wipe your brows once they’re wet.  As I mentioned, I went with 220 Dark Brown.  I felt that it was a little too red toned for me, personally, but I made it work.  Just be aware that this shade does have some red tone to it.

To wrap this up, overall, I do think that this is a great brow pencil especially for a drugstore product.  I think the price is right and definitely affordable.  Because the product is so pigments, a little goes a long way so you could get more use out of it.  If you are looking for a brow product that won’t move once it’s on and is waterproof, the Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil would probably be a perfect fit for you.  Would I purchase this product again?  Aside from being biased when it comes to my dipbrow, I probably would purchase this pencil again if I needed a brow product in a hurry and one I can just grab at the drugstore.  It’s not necessarily going to be my go-to brow product but it does the trick and works for what I need and want out of a brow product.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and if you’ve tried this brow pencil, leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.  I love hearing from you!!
