Roses are red, violets are blue?

Hi friends!

There are two colors that I never, ever thought I would be able to pull off and last week, I decided to be brave and just go for it.  The colors green and blue are two that I avoid at all cost because I just don’t know how to work with them and because I never thought they would look good on me.  Well, a makeup artist that I follow, her eye shape is very similar to mine and I saw that she shared a picture of herself wearing blue shadow.  It looked absolutely beautiful on her!  So, as I was sitting at my vanity trying to decide what look to do, I remembered that this makeup artist looked absolutely stunning in blue so, hey, why not?  I just decided to go for it.  I happen to own the exact same palette that she used to achieve this look which made me really excited.  As I was doing my eye makeup, I got kind of nervous.  Blend, blend, and blend some more and by the time I was done applying my lashes, I was in LOVE with this blue eye look on me.

The palette that I used to achieve this look was the Anastasia Beverly Hills World Traveler Shadow Couture Palette.  Now this palette was a limited edition 2015 palette but I did link you to Amazon where you can still purchase the palette if you are interested.  Some of the prices on there are outrageous but I did find one for $45 which isn’t a lot more than what I paid for the palette.  But I’m sure you can find a very similar shade of blue within other brands.

I absolutely love this particular palette though.  It really does have some beautiful shades and I find myself grabbing for it often.  The blue is one shade that I just didn’t dare to touch.

I used Morocco as my transition shade and Fudge to deepen up the crease.  Azure (obviously) is the shade of blue that I used. For my lower lash line, I used a combination of Fudge and Noir but barely tapped my brush into each color and it came out exactly how I wanted.  To complete the eye look, I used the Lotus Lashes in the style 504.  Again, I am so in love with how this look turned out.  Ever since wearing this blue eye look, I’ve been reaching for more and more bold colors and have been having so much fun playing with them.

At the end of the day, it’s “just makeup” and it washes off so why not step out of your comfort zone and have a little fun with it?  It’s so fun to play around with different looks and you might even be surprised at what shades flatter you.  So step out of that box and go bold!
