Maybelline SuperStay 24HR Makeup

Hi beauties!

Today I want to tell you all about my experience with the Maybelline SuperStay 24HR Makeup foundation.  I’m always on the hunt for a good drugstore foundation but I nothing seems to compare to that dang Loreal Infallible semi-matte foundation.  That stuff is legit!

Alright, onto the review.

And now for my take….

I love this foundation…for the first hour and a half to two hours tops.  It goes on very smoothly and blends out beautifully.  As far as coverage goes, it covers really well but doesn’t look cakey.  I did apply it with my flat top kabuki brush.  As always, when using a foundation for the first time to review,  I do not use a primer since I want to see how the foundation applies and wears on its own.  I did set the foundation with a translucent loose powder like I always do.

About an hour after applying the foundation. It looks beautiful.

Okay, I kid you not, 2 hours after applying this foundation and applying the rest of my makeup, I looked like an oil slicked pig!  It was soooo bad!  The foundation started separating in my t-zone which honestly has never happened to me with any foundation regardless of how bad the foundation was.  It looked so gross!  But I did blot, touch up, and re-powder just for you loves.  I was determined to get a good feel for this foundation if I was going to give an honest review.  I was so surprised the foundation was breaking up especially since I didn’t use a primer.  I’ve heard that primers can break up foundations if you’re using the wrong type of primer for the type of foundation, but no primer?  Yeah, not cool.

2 hours later, I went into my bathroom to see what my foundation looked like and lo and behold…a oily mess but this time it was my entire face.  I knew I was going to see a hot mess on my face because I could FEEL the foundation just sitting there.  Ugh, I really hate that!  So blot, touch up, and re-powder I went.  About 3 hours later, I couldn’t take it anymore.  I could just feel the foundation on my face and I couldn’t wait to take it off.  I didn’t do anything extreme during the time that I wore this foundation either.  I did my morning workout prior to putting any makeup on my face so I knew that wasn’t why this foundation was so awful on my skin.  I ran some errands, did some photo editing, and blogged. That pretty much was my day so see, nothing extreme.  Anyway, I just couldn’t take it anymore so I removed my foundation.  Of course it came off really well with my makeup remover wipes.

The next day I decided to try the foundation with a mattifying primer to see if it made a difference.  Long story short, it didn’t.  I ended up taking the foundation off about 4 hours into my attempt to wear it again.  The foundation still separated and just made me into an oily mess.  Such a bummer!!

I had such high hopes for this foundation after reading about it’s benefits and reading reviews.  Oh and just for the record, the whole transfer resistant part is such crap!  So disappointed with this foundation.  I ended up putting my holy grail Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation on in order to save the day.

2 different tries…yep I took one for the team, and this foundation was a big fat NO for me. No No No No No and No!!!

BUT, please keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different so just because this foundation was a no for me, it could work for you.  You just never know.  I do have combination skin but during the winter months, my skin is a little more dry compared to normal for me.  Isn’t that how it usually goes during the winter for most people?

So there you have it…a big fat no!!

If you’ve tried this foundation and like it, please leave me a comment and let me know how it works for you and what you do to make this foundation work.
