Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Matifying Foundation

Hey beauties!

So I have heard how good Makeup Forever’s foundations are so I had to pick some up to try.  Now I tried the HD Foundation but thanks to my awesome t-zone, I needed something a little more oil controlling.  Sephora had a grand opening this past Friday at a JCPenney near me so I went and picked up the Mat Velvet+.  As always, here is the information found on the Sephora website and below will be my thoughts and honest opinion.

My shade is 40

What it is:
A shine controlling, oil-free, water-resistant, complete coverage liquid foundation.

What it is formulated to:
Hides imperfections, evens out skintone, and mattifies with a non-oily, perfectly powdered finish. The result is flawless and lasts for hours.

What else you need to know:
Although this foundation provides full coverage, the end result is completely adjustable to fit your needs—a little goes a long way.

Research results:
-Study panel composed of 22 adults (using a 48 hour patch test) showed this product to be non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

This foundation retails for $36.00 and comes with 1 fl oz which is per usual for a foundation.  There are 20 shades to choose from which I, personally, think is fabulous!

The foundation does come in a squeeze tube type bottle which some people may be bummed about since most high end foundations to come in a pump bottle but this doesn’t bother me at all.  I like that I don’t have to be too careful with it and can just toss it into my bag when on the go.

This foundation is fairly thick but not so thick that it feels like paste when you’re putting it on your face.  But it does have a pretty good consistency.  It doesn’t dry too fast so it’s easy to blend out.   There is no fragrance whatsoever which I love.  I hate when foundations smell flowery or like paint or something like that.  This doesn’t smell like anything.

Let’s talk coverage.  Oh!MY!GOSH!!  I am so in love with the coverage of this foundation.  The very first time I tried out this foundation, I did not use a primer (as usual) and I used my flat top kabuki brush to apply it.  It honestly covered so beautifully.  It covered completely but not heavily which is such a huge thing when it comes to complete coverage foundations.  I allowed the first layer to dry a bit (didn’t take long) and then I went back in where I felt I needed just a little bit more coverage thanks to a freak out my skin had due to a cleanse I was doing.  I didn’t need concealer to cover blemishes or redness at all.  I did use a little bit of under eye concealer but that’s because I wanted a little bit of an under eye highlight.  If I didn’t want that highlight, I wouldn’t have needed a concealer because it covered so beautifully.  I can’t rave enough about the coverage of this foundation for me.  It sits on my face beautifully, the rest of my makeup sat on the foundation beautifully.  Every time I looked in the mirror throughout the day, I was so impressed with how well this foundation held up.  I didn’t have to do any blotting or touching up which is HUGE for me.  I usually have to blot about 4-5 hours after wearing a foundation but not with this one.  By the end of my day, I wasn’t matte but I looked like I had an inner glow which was so beautiful and it didn’t bother me at all.  I would rather look like I’m glowing from within then look like a greased pig. 😉  I wore this foundation the first time for about 11 hours.

The second time I used this foundation, I did use the Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer to see how these two Makeup Forever products worked together. Perfection!  I just have to use the word PERFECTION!  My makeup looked flawless throughout the day and I even received a few compliments while I was out running errands.  I have far from flawless skin so the fact that I received compliments about my complexion says a lot!  I did use the black beauty blender to apply the foundation and wow!!  The foundation did look a little more sheer but the coverage was still there.  I don’t know how that works but it did and it looked beautiful.  I did not have to blot, re-powder, or touch up my makeup at all throughout the day.

I honestly could go on and on about this foundation because I think it’s that good.  If you have an oily t-zone or even oily skin, I highly recommend this foundation.  I think if you have pretty oily skin, you may have to blot at the end of the day if you plan to continue wearing the foundation but I think overall, it should hold up pretty well.  Oily t-zone peeps, try this foundation out.  I really do recommend that you get the mattifying primer to go along with it for extra control but you’d still be fine without it.  Make sure that you do get color matched to get the most out of this complete coverage foundation.

Hands down, the best foundation I, personally, have ever tried!  This will be my go-to foundation unless I can find something better.  Oh wait…there is better…it’s called the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation but mama doesn’t have $62 to spend on that.  Haha!  No but really, this Makeup Forever foundation is amazing and so beautiful.  Get it, try it, and let me know what you think.  I would love to hear what all of you think of this foundation especially my oily skinned peeps.  I hope you’re having a fabulous Monday!!  ❤
