My March Ipsy Bag (review)

Hello my beauties!
I debated whether or not I wanted to put this particular post up since it’s very late but I really wanted to talk about these products so I figured I would just do it.

As a reminder, this is what I received in my March bag.  I am going to copy and paste each product description from the Ipsy website and then I’ll give you my thoughts.

Evelyn Iona Cosmetics Concealer- Medium Ivory: Vitamin E, Cocoa Seed Butter, and Organic Coconut, Jojoba, & Castor Seed Oil…your skin is going to LOVE this Concealer! All-natural withIMG_9579 certified organic ingredients formulated for sensitive skin makes for one line softening, moisturizing, and imperfection-hiding extravaganza!  Concealer is Made in USA, Gluten Free, Natural & Organic and Cruelty Free.

I actually really liked this concealer.  It came in a pot which I’m actually really liking in a concealer.  I dabbed it onto the areas I wanted concealed and blended it out with a brush I use for concealer and it blended out rather well.  The coverage wasn’t quite what I like out of a concealer but it was buildable without looking cakey.  I don’t know if I will purchase this particular concealer but to receive in an Ipsy bag to try, I was happy with it.

Dr. Brandt Pore No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion: “An apple a day keeps the lines away.” This oil-free, lightweight lotion is formulated with apple stem cells to help delay the natural signs of aging by maintaining the longevity and activity of stem cells in the skin. Simultaneously, retinol stimulates new cell turnover and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Brandt’s multi-tasking formula provides the best of both worlds, delivering anti-aging and pore minimizing/mattifying benefits.

Alright, I did not like this product at all.  First, let’s talk about the fact that it exploded all over the place when I opened it and the smell is just horrid.  In fact, for me, it was overwhelming.  My husband said it reminded him of the smell of glue with some menthol mixed in.  For me, it was just awful.  After reading reviews on the Ipsy website, I just don’t understand how anyone could like the smell of this product.  It has a very strong medicated smell and it didn’t make me want to put it on my face.  I did give this product a fair chance, thought, and it did nothing for me.  It didn’t mattify me at all.  In fact, I felt like I was even more oily than normal when I used it.  It didn’t  minimize the appearance of my pores at all either.  This product definitely won’t be purchased by me.  I really just want to throw the dang thing away but for some reason, it still sits in one of my product sample size drawers.

Marsk Mineral EyeShadow- Fifty Shades: MARSK Mineral Eyeshadows are 100% natural, mineral based loose powder that are strictly cruelty free and available in a range of strikingIMG_9558 shades that offer endless color possibilities for a professional makeup effect. Featuring a creamy texture, these highly pigmented powders can be used both wet and dry, are easily blendable and offer you the ability to create depth and intensity around the eye.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this mineral eyeshadow!  Oh my gosh!  The shade is amazing and has a nice glittery finish to it.  It blends out beautifully either wet or dry and it’s very pigmented.  The smallest amount goes such a long way.  I received a sample size and that thing is going to last me for quite some time.  I love this shadow so much that I purchased a few more shades to add to my collection.  Marsk definitely has me sold!  Oh!  The one thing I did notice is that wet or dry, the pigment is pretty much the same which I actually really liked.  Some mineral shadows, you have to use wet just to achieve that pop of color but with this, wet or dry and it stays the same.  Pretty impressive if you ask me.

NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick- Pops: Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that’s long-wearing and beautiful.

I’m a sucker for lip products so I was excited to receive this lipstick especially since I already have a soft spot for NYX.  I own a few different shades of this lipstick but fortunately, for me, I didn’t own Pops.  This lipstick is super moisturizing and feels nice and creamy on your lips.  The color is absolutely beautiful and is one I reach for just to give me a pop of color.  Hey, maybe that’s why they named it Pops!  It doesn’t smell like the NYX glosses–in fact, it doesn’t have a smell at all.  LOVE this lipstick!  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

And last…

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Crème Oil: Discover Soy Renewal Crème Oil, a luxurious styling crème made of the line’s staple blend of Soy, Cocoa and Argan Oil. Soy Renewal Crème Oil provides lightweight conditioning and moisturizing benefits that helps hair look and feel extra healthy! Ideal for fine and normal hair.

I was super excited to receive this in my Ipsy bag since I already use the Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner.  I figured this would be a great product to use along side the shampoo and condition and I definitely was right.  I can’t believe how soft and silky my hair feels after using this product.  It smells amazing, too!  You are supposed to put this on your hair after towel drying and prior to blow drying as it says on the tube, it helps protect your hair from heat too.  The only thing that I found really odd about this product was the glitter/shimmer in it.  The first time I used it, I noticed a shimmer on my hands and couldn’t figure out where it came from.  It then dawned on me that it was from the crème oil.  You can’t see it in your hair at all but it’s apparently there.  Maybe that’s what helps make your hair look shiny?  I don’t know…all I know is that it made me laugh when I figured out where it came from.  If you use this and it bothers you, just wash your hands after and the shimmer goes away.  I went and purchased a full size tube from Ulta after using this twice.  It’s one I want to keep in my bathroom for sure!

Bonus product from Ipsy points–It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye- Neutral Medium:  Now this wasn’t on the Ipsy site since it was a bonus product that I ordered with my Ipsy points.  The tube does say Full Coverage Anti-aging Waterproof Concealer with Hydro-collagen Vitamins C & K.

Now that’s a thick concealer!

The first thing that I noticed about this product was how thick it was.  This worried me.  The little insert the tube came on said to simply put a little on the back of my hand and rub it around with my finger to warm the product up before applying it to my under eye area or anywhere I wanted coverage.  I did find that blending it out was a little difficult because it is such a thick product but warming it with your finger first definitely does help a bit.  It covers ridiculously well and the smallest amount went really far for my needs.  I just can’t believe how thick it is.  It doesn’t have a fragrance which is a plus.  I’m still not sure if I’ll be purchasing this concealer down the road since I don’t get excited about using it.  I really think it’s the consistency of the product that has me all weirded out and not really liking it.  If it was a little thinner, I definitely would want a full size tube since it does cover so well.  For me, it was almost like whatever I covered was completely erased.  It’s the coolest thing ever!  Why oh why does this concealer have to be so thick?

To wrap this up, overall, I am really impressed with my March bag.  Receiving my Ipsy bag always makes me feel like it’s my birthday or something.  Seeing and trying what’s inside is always exciting and fun to play around with.  Ipsy subscriptions are a flat fee of $10 a month.  If you are wanting to give Ipsy a try, I have a unique link that you can use to sign up and start receiving your own Ipsy bag.  Just click here and you’ll be on your way.  What did you get in your March Ipsy bag?  Which products did you love?
